RS Media Robosapien V2

Introducing the latest heir to the Robosapien line invented by NASA scientist, mark Tilden..... RS Media is a vast improvement in programmability, dynamic modification, and flexibility over even the recently released Robosapien V2!

RS Media is equipped with a head mounted camera, a colour LCD screen in his chest, a full speaker system embedded into his armour (Speakers in his hands and a woofer in his back), internal memory, and external memory card. RS Media is capable of playing MP3's and MPEG 4's, taking and displaying photo's and videos, recording and playing audio clips and comes with 3 challenging java games. You can transfer files from a PC using the USB cable provided to an SD memory card in RS Media (all this is actioned using the editing suite software provided). All this in addition to the popular features of the of previous members of the Robosapien family. Like all good families, RS Media will interact with the other Robosapien family members including Robopet, Roboraptor and the new Roboreptile.

One of the most interesting and unique features of this extraordinary new robot is it's ability to modify and swap personalities thanks to the removable SD memory cards that can be programmed to contain various traits and characteristics that the user would like to see in action. As well as the above, RS Media is capable of everything that his younger brother (Robospaien V2) is able to. His additional features include autonomous behaviour, a combination of fluid biomechanical motion with a multi-sensory, interactive humanoid personality.

RS Media has a fully rotatable torso allowing him the mobility to bend over and twist from side to side which means he can sit, bend down, lie down and stand up. His finely tuned precision enable him to pick up, drop and throw objects with a great deal of accuracy and weight. He's fully controllable and programmable by remote control as well as being fully autonomous in 'free-roam' mode. Equipped with infra-red, radar vision his red LED moving eyes can detect obstacles, track movements and take objects that are handed to him!

Sensory features included a vision colour system which enables him to recognise objects and skin tones - this means he can identify a human and wave or offer them a handshake. RS Media even comes with a 'laser' tracking device - which enables him to follow an infra-red path (created using the hand held controller) across the floor.

This incredible breakthrough is set to be one of the top selling toys of its era and even more successful than it's predecessors! Mark Tilden and his team have done it again, and with this many unique and out of this world features, who knows what they'll come up with next!?

Requires 6 x D and 7 x AA batteries.

One hand 360 controller
One Handed Xbox 360 Controller

There is nothing we can comment on this one. Is it a great mod or badly placed buttons will make your one hand stress more? You decide. Nonetheless, this one handed Xbox 360 controller has been modded by Benjamin Heckendorn and functions just like a normal 360 controller. The thumbstick is placed on the front with the XYBA buttons and the right analog placed at the back.

SIMA PRODUCTS

Since everyone else is pumpin' out USB TV tuners like they're going out of style, Sima Products -- those folks who brought us the Hitch transfer device -- is back again, and this time it's bringing the USB ATSC tuning love with the DTU-100. Aside from sporting that oh-so-portable USB stick design, this rendition touts a dedicated antenna port as well as a video input dongle to record your latest camcorder captures without a separate piece of hardware. The dongle supports stereo audio and composite / S-Video, but it's still not clear whether this all comes together as a nice, neat package, nor how much these niceties will set you back.

Talk 2 much?

Boon or Bane, Belkin has jumped into the WLAN Skype phone business. The Belkin product needs three hours to charge up (via USB) but at press time, there is no news on the talk time. Overall, it looks good enough to use in Starbuck, you could flash this around and people will think you're using a low end cellphone but heck, for US$180 a pop , I think it is a decent way to keep talking till the cow come home.

Japan PS3 launch quantity slashed again-- will it ever end?

After seeing their precious PlayStation 3 launch number ravaged by component shortages and manufacturing woes, we thought our Japanese neighbors could finally feel confident in the paltry 100k share they'd been promised by Sony last month, but it looks like they've been betrayed once again. Turns out that Sony will only have 80k of the elusive PS3s prepped by the November 11th for the Japanese launch, due to another component woe. With pretty much every available pre-order slot in the country already snapped up by next-gen hopefuls, and even some of those orders on the fritz, it looks like the best chance you'll have to get the console in The Land of the Rising Sun next month will be to line up outside a non-pre-order retailer and hope for the best. Dress warm!

DVD REWINDER

Don't you just hate rewinding DVDs? Who doesn't. It's about time someone invented a way to rewind DVDs. And a stylish one at that. At first glance you make think that the aptly named DVD Rewinder looks like a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle hot pot... but it's not.

Here's how it works. Just snap a disc on the DVD Rewinder, press the button and watch in wonder as your disc spins in reverse thanks to the "Centripetal Velocity Spindle." To complete the illusion, the DVD Rewinder plays a "rewind" sound while it spin discs backwards. You can also record your own "rewind" sound which provides unending possibilities for trickery.

In all seriousness, my friend's wife just found out that you don't actually have to rewind DVDs. So chances are you'll be able to fool a few people with this gag gadget. So show this to your less-technical friends, sit back and enjoy the show.

Batteries not included. Yes the DVD Rewinder is a real product and can be purchased from dvdrewinder.com.

Easy Gate PC Gets Online For Cheap (in France)

Believe it or not, there are some people in major European countries that still lack internet access, or even computers. (Yes, we're still recovering from shock, too.) According to the French analyst firm Médiamétrie, half of the homes in France don't have a computer, and 60 percent don't have net access. In order to solve this problem, the French ISP firm Neuf Cegetel has launched its new internet access plan called Easy Neuf, in conjunction with its new cheap computer, the Easy Gate. This Linux box and internet service package can be yours for €40 ($50) per month, plus a €150 security deposit, and if you need a keyboard, mouse, monitor, and webcam, you'll have to fork over an additional one-time fee of €100 ($126). The Easy Gate packs an Intel 852GM chipset (no word on exactly what speed) and comes with six USB ports, 512MB of RAM and 512MB of flash memory, although we're not nearly enough to do anything but some light surfing and email (though we assume you can expand on that half gig with an external drive or two). Easy Neuf claims to serve up the internet at speeds of up to 8Mbps and includes unlimited VoIP calls to French landlines, so you can call your grandmother in Biarritz all you want. Beyond that, there's one more feature that we raise an eyebrow at -- Easy Gate's "proactive service monitoring" lets the company keep a remote eye on your PC and will fix it "without the customer having to call the help line." We're not sure we like the idea of automated remote surveillance on our computers, but what do we know, we're just paranoid Americans.

The Return Of the Black Xbox 360 Rumor

For the second time since the console's launch, rumors are circulating that Microsoft is working on a black Xbox 360 design, with the source this time being a banner advert from Best Buy depicting what appears to be a matte black console. The low resolution picture, coupled with the fact that the advert doesn't even mention the Xbox 360 -- let alone a black one -- means that this is about as good a confirmation as earlier Photoshop jobs. However, we doubt this is the last we'll see of the black Xbox 360: what with the home theater-matching PlayStation 3 just around the corner, we wouldn't be too surprised if Redmond ends up throwing fans the color-inverted Xbox 360 that they've always wanted

SanDisk Sansa e280 8GB MP3 Player

The Sansa E200 Siries Mp3 Player are the flagship products of SanDisks audio line. Created by the leaders in flash memory, this flash-based player provides everything you need for music, photo, and video clip playback. The very attractive, sleek design includes a 1.8 TFT color screen with advanced navigational features and an easy to use interface. You can also avoid scratches and cracks with the durable Liquidmetal backing. The Sansa e200 provides superior sound playback and supports Microsoft PlaysForSure subscription music. The SanDisk Media Converter supports most image formats to enjoy photos and small personal videos.

TIME reviewed Sansa E280 which they writes “It is a shame that such a high-capacity flash player can’t also be used as a storage drive — if I could dump out the contents of my camera into it, I’d be really impressed. Still, the Sansa has plenty of other talents, such as the voice recorder and FM radio, that the nano doesn’t have. I think it would suit many as a dark-horse alternative to iPods. But if you want it just for the 8GB, bear in mind that it probably won’t be long before there’s an 8GB nano with video capabilities. You know, for the rest of the herd.”

AMX is looking to put a little more ZigBee into your life (and, really, couldn't we all use a little?), announcing a pair of new remotes and some other ZigBee wireless gear at the just-concluded CEDIA Expo in Denver. The Mio Modero R-4 (seen above) is the company's top-of-the-line remote, with a 2.4-inch color LCD touchscreen , AMX's "G4 graphics engine" (which won't let you play Halo, but will give you animated icons), and 28 old-fashioned push buttons. Also announced was the Mio Modero R-3, with which you'll have to settle for a smaller monochrome LCD, though you'll get a bountiful 45 backlit laser-engraved buttons. Both remotes will give you some two-way ZigBee action, letting you view everything from song information to the current room temperature from the comfort of your couch -- if you're living in one of those houses of the future, that is. To go along with 'em, AMX has dropped some additional ZigBee wireless gear to complete your setup, including a ZigBee wireless gateway, and a repeater to extend wireless coverage to the farthest reaches of your mansion. No word on pricing -- hint: you probably won't find this stuff in the Insignia aisle -- but it should all be available in the next few months.

A cure for Dementia? Not!
Old age dementia strikes probably anyway and everyone, regardies of your station in life. So when you start to loose stuff, its probably a sign that Alzheimer is knocking on your door. And to combat these bouts of forgetfulness, you should turn to the Mini Reminder! just attach one of the transmitters to your mobile phone, PDA or wife and carry the transmitter with you.
When you separated with the object , say within five meters, an alert will sound so that you are reminded that you have left something behind. Ok , this may not be of much help to find lost object if you don't remember where you left it since it doesn't have a GPS to tell you where the object is, but then again, that could be the next gadget that will find its way into our mundane live.

Foxit Reader 2.0
has Released
Foxit Reader 2.0 has been released and it is just as great as the previous versions. If you are still stuck in the days of viewing PDF’s using Adobe Acrobat then it must be because you have never tried the free Foxit Reader.

The software is amazing from multiple aspects. Of course the most important feature that it has is the amazingly quick startup time. When I open a PDF it is on my screen for me to read in less than 5-seconds. Can’t beat that!

The second best thing is that you never have to install it. Just download the ZIP file, extract it, and run the EXE. I just drag the file into my Program Files folder and set it up to be my default PDF reader. There is no installation which means no mess!

So if you haven’t tried this PDF reader yet then I highly suggest you give it a whirl. There’s nothing to install so the worst thing that would happen is you download it, try it, and delete it. However, I have never come across someone that doesn’t like it.
