As the name implies, this gadget is designed to help keep you alive (or at least in good spirits) when you’re off camping, hiking or fishing. It’s a super-tough, compact and lightweight tool that is an upgrade from the popular SL3.
The SL2 features a serrated locking ‘A’ grade blade in an un-blade-like chic black, and comes with a Swedish Defense Department created, firesteel, which lights fires with ease even in a hurricane. To achieve this feat of camping ingenuity, it produces a 3,000°C hot spark for a smoking good night.

Ever practical, the handle of the firesteel contains a small but powerful waterproof torch, and in the body of this piece of kit is a piercing rescue whistle, and belt clip to help you out of a sticky situation.

Shop for it: iWoot

TRENDnet's 300Mbps Wireless Easy-N-Upgrader won't put your router out of a job

If you've been at it long, you're probably tired of forking over $100 or so every year for the latest and greatest in wireless networking. The TEW-637AP, thankfully, takes a different approach. Instead of chucking your current router, the 300Mbps Wireless "Easy-N-Upgrader" just jacks into an extra Ethernet port on your existing router, and relies on that old box to do the "routing" part. The TRENDnet unit deals with blasting the 802.11n with MIMO, for theoretical speeds up to 300Mbps. Seems a bit silly, but the $64 pricetag certainly bests your average 802.11n router, so it might work out for you if you've got a good thing going with your existing setup, and just need a little extra push in the bandwidth department.

Toshiba's new 128GB SATA SSDs -- hello SanDisk?

128GB of SSD. You long for it, you need it, and with any luck you'll have it when Toshiba starts churning 'em out for production by May. The new 1.8-inch and 2.5-inch MLC NAND slabs with SATA interfaces will ship in three capacities: 32GB, 64GB, and the big daddy 128GB. The new SSDs are based on the new 56-nm processes announced back in January. By original I mean unusual in terms of design and material, luckily enough, there aren’t many watches that use crochet or tapestry as their “substance”.

Having in mind that conditional characteristic, I present you two alternative watches that will make you go “pop” - the watchband on either one is made of Italian lambskin and can have a crochet handmade decoration, or a trimmed jacquard tapestry ribbon.

Both are a creative and unique on their own kind of way, the one made from crochet makes me remember my Mom and her projects to add crochet borders to all the towels she can put her hands on. Now that I have put 1 and 1 together, I think I could ask her to do some crochet on normal wristwatch bands and create my own Tiago brand, any takers?

Anyway, the watch faces are square shaped and measure 1-inch which is more than enough to view the time, the bands are adjustable so no worries about the size because (almost) everyone will be able to wear them.

The Crochet Trimmed Watches don’t feature anything high-tech, they only display the time which is the main feature of a watch, and for people that want something simple yet good looking, this is the right option that only costs $80.

Remote Control Dodgem Cars

Dodgem cars are just everyone's favourite fair ground attraction. You see when I review a product, I don't just try it out and then write a quick fluffy blurb about it. When I review a product I live the product, breathe the product, become the product. The good folks over at TheSlanket.com sent me a warm comfy Slanket to review quite some time ago. (In all fairness it was kinda warm outside when they sent it to me, but that's still no excuse.)

So what is a "Slanket?" It's a big soft warm comfy blanket with sleeves that you literally wear while you're on the couch playing video games, watching TV, or working on your blog. A recent situation made it such that I had to sleep in my living room for over a month. I thought that would be an excellent time to give the Slanket a spin.

After 35 days of using the Slanket for my sleeping blanket I came to this conclusion: the Slanket is the most comfortable, softest, warmest, and best engineered blanket ever made. It stays soft after washing without fabric softener, and even on the coldest night the Slanket kept me (and my cat) super toasty warm. (My new Sith Lord name is "Darth Toasty.")

The only thing I would change about the Slanket is to add some velcro on the back edges so you could wrap yourself up and velcro yourself in. Since most people won't be using the Slanket to sleep in like I did this won't be such a big deal for most. Oh, and now that I think about it I'd also put a big pocket on the chest so I could have a good place to put my TV remotes.

I love this product. If you get cold, sit on couches, or like the softest things ever then you'll love The Slanket too.

Carbon Fiber iPhone Mockup

This is a carbon fiber iPhone mockup that I normally wouldn't care about, but this one comes with a humorous story. Supposedly, Apple will be developing a special edition carbon fiber iPhone called the Carbon Electra X Apple iPhone. It will be limited to 200 units and be given away in the Oscars goodie bags. This is where the story gets iPhoney, but kind of funny.

In addition to the beautiful carbon fiber case, the phone will come pre-loaded with every M.O.P. song ever produced, every episode of Mythbusters and Rosario Dawson's cell number. There is also a custom software installed, approved by the FAA, that allows you to use your phone while on board any commercial airplane.
Who the hell is M.O.P? Regardless, it will also (not) be available for $700, 11-percent of which will be donated to the International TonTon Preservation Fund.

Walletex MP3 player

Walletex, makers of credit card sized flash drives adds one more dimension to these slim drives. RS Media is a vast improvement in programmability, dynamic modification, and flexibility over even the recently released Robosapien V2!

RS Media is equipped with a head mounted camera, a colour LCD screen in his chest, a full speaker system embedded into his armour (Speakers in his hands and a woofer in his back), internal memory, and external memory card. RS Media is capable of playing MP3's and MPEG 4's, taking and displaying photo's and videos, recording and playing audio clips and comes with 3 challenging java games. You can transfer files from a PC using the USB cable provided to an SD memory card in RS Media (all this is actioned using the editing suite software provided). All this in addition to the popular features of the of previous members of the Robosapien family. Like all good families, RS Media will interact with the other Robosapien family members including Robopet, Roboraptor and the new Roboreptile.

One of the most interesting and unique features of this extraordinary new robot is it's ability to modify and swap personalities thanks to the removable SD memory cards that can be programmed to contain various traits and characteristics that the user would like to see in action. As well as the above, RS Media is capable of everything that his younger brother (Robospaien V2) is able to. His additional features include autonomous behaviour, a combination of fluid biomechanical motion with a multi-sensory, interactive humanoid personality.

RS Media has a fully rotatable torso allowing him the mobility to bend over and twist from side to side which means he can sit, bend down, lie down and stand up. His finely tuned precision enable him to pick up, drop and throw objects with a great deal of accuracy and weight. He's fully controllable and programmable by remote control as well as being fully autonomous in 'free-roam' mode. Equipped with infra-red, radar vision his red LED moving eyes can detect obstacles, track movements and take objects that are handed to him!

Sensory features included a vision colour system which enables him to recognise objects and skin tones - this means he can identify a human and wave or offer them a handshake. RS Media even comes with a 'laser' tracking device - which enables him to follow an infra-red path (created using the hand held controller) across the floor.

This incredible breakthrough is set to be one of the top selling toys of its era and even more successful than it's predecessors! Mark Tilden and his team have done it again, and with this many unique and out of this world features, who knows what they'll come up with next!?

Requires 6 x D and 7 x AA batteries.

 iRiver S7 DAP

iRiver has decided to give some competition to Apple’s iPod Shuffle. The thumbstick is placed on the front with the XYBA buttons and the right analog placed at the back.

Add to: | <a href="http://www.blinklist.com/index.php?Action=Blink/addblink.php&Description=&Url=http://gadgets-ideal.blogspot.com/2006/11/talk-2-much-boon-or-bane-belkin-has.html&Title=Talk" 2="" much="" target="_blank">blinklist | <a href="http://del.icio.us/post?url=http://gadgets-ideal.blogspot.com/2006/11/talk-2-much-boon-or-bane-belkin-has.html;title=Talk" 2="" much="" target="_blank">del.cio.us | <a href="http://digg.com/submit?phase=2&url=http://gadgets-ideal.blogspot.com/2006/11/talk-2-much-boon-or-bane-belkin-has.html&title=Talk" 2="" much="" target="_blank">digg | <a href="http://myweb2.search.yahoo.com/myresults/bookmark?t=Talk" 2="" u="http://gadgets-ideal.blogspot.com/2006/11/talk-2-much-boon-or-bane-belkin-has.html"" target="_blank">yahoo! | <a href="http://www.furl.net/storeIt.jsp?u=http://gadgets-ideal.blogspot.com/2006/11/talk-2-much-boon-or-bane-belkin-has.html&t=Talk" 2="" much="" target="_blank">furl | <a href="http://www.rawsugar.com/tagger/?turl=http://gadgets-ideal.blogspot.com/2006/11/talk-2-much-boon-or-bane-belkin-has.html&tttl=Talk" 2="" much="" target="_blank">rawsugar | <a href="http://www.shadows.com/features/tcr.htm?url=http://gadgets-ideal.blogspot.com/2006/11/talk-2-much-boon-or-bane-belkin-has.html&title=Talk" 2="" much="" target="_blank">shadows | <a href="http://www.netvouz.com/action/submitBookmark?url=http://gadgets-ideal.blogspot.com/2006/11/talk-2-much-boon-or-bane-belkin-has.html&title=Talk" description="Talk" 2="" much="" target="_blank">netvouz

SIMA PRODUCTS

Since everyone else is pumpin' out USB TV tuners like they're going out of style, Sima Products -- those folks who brought us the Hitch transfer device -- is back again, and this time it's bringing the USB ATSC tuning love with the DTU-100. Turns out that Sony will only have 80k of the elusive PS3s prepped by the November 11th for the Japanese launch, due to another component woe. With pretty much every available pre-order slot in the country already snapped up by next-gen hopefuls, and even some of those orders on the fritz, it looks like the best chance you'll have to get the console in The Land of the Rising Sun next month will be to line up outside a non-pre-order retailer and hope for the best. Who doesn't. It's about time someone invented a way to rewind DVDs. And a stylish one at that. At first glance you make think that the aptly named DVD Rewinder looks like a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle hot pot... but it's not.

Here's how it works. Just snap a disc on the DVD Rewinder, press the button and watch in wonder as your disc spins in reverse thanks to the "Centripetal Velocity Spindle." To complete the illusion, the DVD Rewinder plays a "rewind" sound while it spin discs backwards. You can also record your own "rewind" sound which provides unending possibilities for trickery.

In all seriousness, my friend's wife just found out that you don't actually have to rewind DVDs. So chances are you'll be able to fool a few people with this gag gadget. So show this to your less-technical friends, sit back and enjoy the show.

Batteries not included. Yes the DVD Rewinder is a real product and can be purchased from dvdrewinder.com.

Tag:DVD Rewinder,Rewind,Gadget

Categories: PC

Easy Gate PC Gets Online For Cheap (in France)

Believe it or not, there are some people in major European countries that still lack internet access, or even computers. (Yes, we're still recovering from shock, too.) According to the French analyst firm Médiamétrie, half of the homes in France don't have a computer, and 60 percent don't have net access. In order to solve this problem, the French ISP firm Neuf Cegetel has launched its new internet access plan called Easy Neuf, in conjunction with its new cheap computer, the Easy Gate. This Linux box and internet service package can be yours for €40 ($50) per month, plus a €150 security deposit, and if you need a keyboard, mouse, monitor, and webcam, you'll have to fork over an additional one-time fee of €100 ($126). The Easy Gate packs an Intel 852GM chipset (no word on exactly what speed) and comes with six USB ports, 512MB of RAM and 512MB of flash memory, although we're not nearly enough to do anything but some light surfing and email (though we assume you can expand on that half gig with an external drive or two). Easy Neuf claims to serve up the internet at speeds of up to 8Mbps and includes unlimited VoIP calls to French landlines, so you can call your grandmother in Biarritz all you want. Beyond that, there's one more feature that we raise an eyebrow at -- Easy Gate's "proactive service monitoring" lets the company keep a remote eye on your PC and will fix it "without the customer having to call the help line." We're not sure we like the idea of automated remote surveillance on our computers, but what do we know, we're just paranoid Americans.

Tag:PC,France,Cheap Computer,Computers,

Categories: Hot Stuff Still, the Sansa has plenty of other talents, such as the voice recorder and FM radio, that the nano doesn’t have. I think it would suit many as a dark-horse alternative to iPods. But if you want it just for the 8GB, bear in mind that it probably won’t be long before there’s an 8GB nano with video capabilities. The Mio Modero R-4 (seen above) is the company's top-of-the-line remote, with a 2.4-inch color LCD touchscreen , AMX's "G4 graphics engine" (which won't let you play Halo, but will give you animated icons), and 28 old-fashioned push buttons. Also announced was the Mio Modero R-3, with which you'll have to settle for a smaller monochrome LCD, though you'll get a bountiful 45 backlit laser-engraved buttons. Both remotes will give you some two-way ZigBee action, letting you view everything from song information to the current room temperature from the comfort of your couch -- if you're living in one of those houses of the future, that is. To go along with 'em, AMX has dropped some additional ZigBee wireless gear to complete your setup, including a ZigBee wireless gateway, and a repeater to extend wireless coverage to the farthest reaches of your mansion. No word on pricing -- hint: you probably won't find this stuff in the Insignia aisle -- but it should all be available in the next few months.

Tag:Home Gadget,Electronic Gadget,Gadgets,Wireless,

Categories: Misc. Ok , this may not be of much help to find lost object if you don't remember where you left it since it doesn't have a GPS to tell you where the object is, but then again, that could be the next gadget that will find its way into our mundane live.

Tag:Mobile Phone,PDA,Gadgets,Transmitters,

Categories: Home Gadgets Electronic Gadgets

Flip to Serve

Here's another nifty gadget made for those who can't cook to save their own lives. If you are still stuck in the days of viewing PDF’s using Adobe Acrobat then it must be because you have never tried the free Foxit Reader.
The software is amazing from multiple aspects. Of course the most important feature that it has is the amazingly quick startup time. When I open a PDF it is on my screen for me to read in less than 5-seconds. Can’t beat that!

The second best thing is that you never have to install it. Just download the ZIP file, extract it, and run the EXE. I just drag the file into my Program Files folder and set it up to be my default PDF reader. There is no installation which means no mess!

So if you haven’t tried this PDF reader yet then I highly suggest you give it a whirl. There’s nothing to install so the worst thing that would happen is you download it, try it, and delete it. However, I have never come across someone that doesn’t like it.

Direct Download Link For Foxit Reader 2

Tag:news,software,

Categories: PC Misc.Gadget

Mini Mac Rival?

Apple may have ruled the roost when it comes to savvy looking computers but not anymore. But now, with the H-racer, there is no reason to deny the joys of RC to your kid as it is environmentally friendly! The H-racer is the ONLY RC controlled model that runs exclusively on Hydrogen fuel. Wot? Isn't that wee bit dangerous? Not exactly, its onboard hydrogen storage only stores very quantities of his explosive fuel so you won't have to worry about the local bomb squad following your kid around. A miniature hydrogen station comes with the car, all you have to do is fill it with water and the built in solar panels will distill the water info hydrogen fuel.
